They’ve got to find a way
To get some love in here today…
Yes, there’s been trouble in an Argentine stadium again. This time it was at the match between Newell’s Old Boys and River Plate, and took place in the home stand, where fans clashed with police, causing the referee to call the match off with four minutes remaining and River leading 2-1. It just has to stop.
Yesterday, the Argentine government announced that River’s ground would be closed for five matches. That was as punishment for an incident which took place outside the stadium, in the hours before the game. So inside the stadium, during the match?
For what it’s worth, since the trouble was caused by the fans of the losing team, and since only a few minutes of the game remained, the AFA’s normal reaction in terms of the result would be to leave it to stand. But that’s hardly the main issue tonight.
