No go

Boca have had their appeal against last week’s 0-0 draw away to Bolívar in La Paz thrown out by CONMEBOL. The xeneize had protested that the hosts fielded three ineligible players in the match, but it turns out they were, in fact, properly registered. Try doing your research properly next time, boys.

In Asunción, Libertad, conquerors of River in last year’s Copa, beat Banfield 1-0 with a late goal from Cristián Riveros. Banfield were unlucky to lose but can take heart from their performance. And River get their Libertadores campaign started on Thursday night, with a very interesting-looking match away to Chilean champs Colo Colo. The side will be unchanged from that which beat Newell’s over 89 minutes on Saturday.
