Not a popular boy

Some people don’t much like Roberto Ayala right now…

Forget Milan, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio or… you know, all of those big rivalries. It seems the most hate-filled city of the week when it comes to cross-town vitriol in a footballing manner is…. erm… Valencia.

Impressive given that until a year or so ago no-one outside Spain even knew where Vila-Real was, but Roberto Ayala’s impending move to the Yellow Submarine has sparked angry graffiti in the blocks near his home, apparently, from Valencia fans not happy with his defecting to the enemy. Slogans include ‘Ayala, traitor, die’.

Lovely.
