Playing away

River Plate and San Lorenzo both begin their temporary exiles today, as a result of stadium suspensions following recent troubles. River host Racing at Vélez’s gorgeous José Amalfitani, whilst former River managerial legend Ramón Díaz will occupy the home bench in – slightly sadistic, this – La Bombonera, after Boca agreed to let San Lorenzo play Belgrano in their ground.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan have taken a step closer to not cocking up an Italian title challenge for a change, beating Catania 5-2 away from home. Who said Serie A was low scoring? Argentines Walter Samuel, Santiago Solari and Julio Cruz bagged three of the (surely) incoming champions’ goals.
