It’s not a good time to belong to the red-and-black half of Rosario. It was announced on Thursday that Newell’s would be docked three points - an unprecendented punishment in Argentina - for incidents in their match against River. The result at the time was 2-1 to River, but it’s now been revised - also unusual in Argentina - to 2-0.
And just when it seemed it couldn’t get any worse for Newell’s fans… they’ve declared bankruptcy, having been ordered to pay debts of AR$8million (US$2.65m, or £1.4m). Can it get any worse?
