A shockingly low 9 goals from 7 matches this weekend, which included – you won’t believe this – no fewer than two 0-0 draws. Three matches, of course, weren’t played, as mentioned on Friday. Of those that were, the most surprising result was Belgrano smashing Vélez 3-0 in Córdoba, whilst Newell’s continued their unbeaten run under Pablo Marini and San Lorenzo coped with the pressure to move back to the top after Boca had piled it on by winning the previous day. Estudiantes had Agustín Alayes sent off in their 0-0 draw with Independiente (a scoreline that by no means reflected the match – the two goalies were the best and busiest players), and manager Diego Simeone followed him down the tunnel for protesting at the decision. Goals as always will be up by this time tomorrow.

I watched the Independiente-Estudiantes match, and certainly agree about the keepers. Ustari continues to impress, and it’s easy to see why Barca are so interested (allegedly).
