Not at the races

Not a happy bunch.

Racing were winning against Colón in Santa Fé, thanks to a superb swivel-and-strike from Gonzalo Bergessio, but fell asleep defending a free kick with just seven minutes remaining, allowing Diego Reynoso to head in unchallenged for the equaliser. Afterwards, Colón could have taken all three points with a couple of good chances, but La Academia‘s luck somehow held out, and they got a draw.

Thanks to the Quilmes – Arsenal match not taking place this weekend, Racing can’t go bottom just yet. But if Rosario Central get a win at home to Chicago, they’ll be 19th of 20. They’ve won just one match of their opening ten, and Reinaldo Merlo’s tactics of getting a goal and then desperately trying to defend it clearly aren’t working. How long can this last?
