Week 11 fixtures

This weekend’s outstanding fixture, by some distance, is the La Plata derby. Gimnasia will be the home team in the Estadio Unico this time round (the two sides share it), as they look to avenge the 7-0 spanking handed out to them by Estudiantes in the stadium’s inaugural clásico in the Apertura. Independiente’s new manager Miguel Angel Santoro will test his 4-4-2 formation out against Chicago. Boca have a potentially trick trip to Newell’s – and I’d have laughed my socks off typing that a few short weeks ago – leaders San Lorenzo have an awkward match away against Godoy Cruz, and two of the fallen from the Libertadores meet at the Monumental, where River host Banfield. No matches have been cancelled this weekend, for a change.
