Hit for six

Naughty boy

Gastón Sessa has been handed a six month ban (plus four Copa Libertadores matches out) by CONMEBOL for the horrific kick in the face he gave Boca’s Rodrigo Palacio last Wednesday in the first leg of the Boca vs. Vélez second round clash. The announcement follows the decision by the Vélez board not to field the goalkeeper in any competition at least until the end of the season, and to send him for psychological treatment.

  1. Robert C Mackle says:

    An absolute disgrace.

  2. Justin says:

Madness. Well done to Velez for suspending him for the remainder of the tournament.

Again, I take note of the soon-to-be goalkeeper upheaval in la Primera. With Ustari and Carrizo rumoured to be gone after the Clausura, and Bobadilla unlikely to remain happy as second choice to Caranta at Boca, there will be changes. Independiente appear to be giving Assman a serious chance to win the job. Who knows what River will do.
