Still on track

Someone’s happy.

Real Madrid haven’t been mentioned on Hasta Lo Gol Siempre for a while, largely because Fernando Gago’s not done a lot and Gonzalo Higuaín’s been absolute cack. But today they might just about merit it. Needing a win at home to keep up the pressure on leaders Barcelona (who play Real Betis tomorrow), Madrid went in 3-1 down to Espanyol at half-time, courtesy of a hat-trick from Uruguayan Walter ‘The Rifle’ Pandiani and a sole consolation from Ruud van Nistelrooy. And then the comeback. Raúl pulled it back to 3-2 early in the second half, José Antonio Reyes equalised, and right in the last minute, up popped little Gonzalo with the winner. Welcome back to the world of football, Pipita.
