Week 15 scores and scorers

The Avellaneda derby passed by peacefully and evenly, San Lorenzo stayed top after grinding out a win away to Newell’s, and River’s title challenge has finally been killed off once and for all by defending champions Estudiantes, who won in El Monumental with almost the last kick of the game. Boca did what they had to and defended solidly to get an away victory at Quilmes in the weekend’s final match, and the best result was for Lanús, who beat Colón 3-0. The results follow, and further down is a brief summary of the league table, as it stands with 4 matches to go. Check back tomorrow for the goal videos, as per usual.

One Response to Week 15 scores and scorers

  1. Justin says:

River were victimised by a HORRIBLE offside decision which ruled out a perfectly good Marco Ruben goal in the 91st minute. One would like to think that, had the goal been given, they would have marshalled the troops and held out for the 1-0 win. Burrito Ortega’s silly sending off early in the second half doomed what was otherwise shaping up to be a very fine effort. That’s two truly stupid red cards in the last two games. JP Carrizo was quite magnificent once again. He is likely down to his last couple of games in a River shirt.
