The scores, scorers and goals from week 16

Typical. I go away for one weekend, and Argentina goes goal crazy. It’s been a pretty good campaign for goal tallies, but after the 15th round saw just 13 in ten matches, this weekend the teams seemed eager to make up for the lapse and banged in no fewer than 36! Estudiantes and Newell’s were the biggest contributors, laying on a 4-4 draw in the Estadio Municipal. Boca beat Gimnasia Jujuy 3-1, San Lorenzo put 3 without reply past Racing to keep their noses in front, and Arsenal ensured their participation in the Copa Sudamericana, beating Central 2-0. Even River managed to score, following an open letter from Daniel Passarella to the fans pleading for a little more understanding. Colón’s win away to Belgrano could be crucial in the relegation battle. Read on for the full scores and scorers. The goal videos will be posted in a separate post a few minutes after this one, to keep things tidy.
