The Millionaires start spending… oh.

peralta2After all that selling, River Plate have finally signed a footballer in this transfer window – but the traditional big-spenders won’t be shelling out anything but his wages. Ernesto Farías, Juan Pablo Carrizo, Nelson Rivas, Ruben Sambueza, Víctor Zapata, Diego Galván and Matías Oyola have all left. Today, Sixto Peralta arrived – on loan – to fill the playmaking spot which Daniel Passarella didn’t bother to cover when he sold Marcelo Gallardo in January.

Peralta, formerly of Huracán and Racing in Argentina, Inter and Torino in Italy, Ipswich Town in England and Santos Laguna and Tigres in Mexico, won’t be the only new arrival – the club want Justo Villar to replace Carrizo between the sticks – but he is the first. And don’t worry River fans, there’s no new shirt with a rubbish collar – he’s wearing a polo neck under that River jersey.
