Since their glorious return to Primera A, Argentina’s sixth club have begun the season with not one, not two, but three consecutive draws. Huracán took on fellow promotees Tigre in Parque Patricios on Saturday, and the result was 0-0 in spite of El Globo‘s attacking intentions.
At least, attacking intentions in the first half. During the second, both sides, who had attempted so much before the break, appeared to run out of steam and didn’t offer very much at all. Just five minutes in, Andrés Franzioa hit the angle of post and crossbar with a magnificent free kick for Huracán, and his side continued to pressure, but Diego Cagna’s visitors were equal to the challenge and kept their hosts at bay.
In the second half, things were less thrilling but Huracán still had a chance to win late on when Franzoia recieved a pass from Christian Cellay but couldn’t get past Tigre ‘keeper Daniel Islas. In stoppage time, Huracán’s Claudio Ubeda and Tigre’s Juan Blengio were sent off, both for second bookings.
Elsewhere, Colón beat Lanús 2-1 at home, having trailed to a José Sand penalty, by scoring from two dead balls of their own – free kicks from Darío Gandín and Emanuel Centurión in the second half – and Olimpo managed their first win in their new division, after starting with two defeats, at home to Arsenal: 1-0.
