15 and counting

Germán Denis hit two against Gimnasia de Jujuy to take his tally for the Apertura to 15 goals as his side ran out 3-0 winners on Tuesday evening, all the goals coming in the second half after the visitors had caused a few problems before the break. Elsewhere, Colón beat Olimpo by the same scoreline, and Huracán brought Banfield back down to earth after the latter’s win over Independiente, Walter Coyette bagging the game’s only goal.

Denis gets closer to the short tournament goalscoring record with every match. Is Alfio Basile’s decision to leave him out of the selección for the two upcoming World Cup qualifiers really a wise one?
