The century

Facundo Sava can wake up on Sunday a happy man. For one thing, he rescued Racing from what would have been, frankly, an embarrassing home loss to Central on Saturday. For another, the goals he did it with – in the 33rd minutes of each half – were his 99th and 100th goals in Argentine domestic football.

A dreadful perfomance from Racing ended with a point all the same against the Apertura’s bottom side after Sava struck once with each foot, first to give his side the advantage 12 minutes before the break, and then to equalise a  deficit they’d been chasing poorly for twenty minutes, with 12 left on the clock overall.

Elsewhere, Gimnasia de Jujuy beat Colón easily on Friday, whilst on Saturday Olimpo got some badly needed points as they beat fellow promotees San Martin 2-1 in Bahía Blanca.
