Argentinos needed a win in Liniers to keep up their hopes of continuing in the championship race, but Vélez, preparing for life after Ricardo La Volpe (who will leave at the end of the Apertura) put paid to those ambitions, running out 3-0 winners on Monday night. Elsewhere the four clásicos included two draws, and Lanús opened up a bit of daylight at the top. Read on for the results and – a new regular feature, this – the current league table.

No long-winded explanation of who’s where in the table this week, because from now on – here’s the table itself!

(Due to a slight cock-up on my part, and the fact that deleting and then re-uploading files on WordPress doesn’t result in any changes to their size, the points column is cut off. Clicking on the table will bring the whole thing up in a new page.)
