It’s an important weekend, this one, for a variety of reasons. Rock-bottom (of Clausura and Promedio) Olimpo host fellow strugglers Colón in what might be a crucial game in the relegation battle. Racing take on Tigre, whose manager Diego Cagna has dismissed concerns expressed by some on the rumour mill that the officials have been told to give La Academia an easy time on Saturday. At the top, San Lorenzo host Boca at the start of a manic series of clásicos; they then play River twice in the Copa Libertadores second round, between which, next weekend, comes a certain other rivalry that you’ll have heard of even if this is your first visit to an Argentine football site. With that in mind, Diego Simeone, whose River side has five players just one booking away from a domestic suspension, has to decide whether or not to rest key players for the superclásico.
