I think Ischia is going to play his best cards in the next three games. That is, both matches against Cruzeiro and the superclassic versus River. Sure Battaglia will be there, and of course the triangle Roman, Rodrigo, Palermo. Pity few chances Ibarra will be there.
The match against River is out of all considerations. Is a parallel universe where anything can happen. Doesn’t matter who is on the top or who comes playing better. Winning the classic is determinating for the team who wins, but most of all for the one who loses.

Seba-well, you sure have Vargas pegged ! What a shame he can’t stay away from picking up so many bookings. You definitely have to accept the bad with the good when you have him on the squad. But Boca is short on midfield scrappers with the exception of Battaglia. I would wish that Boca would sign Banega for the one match with River but he would probably get sent off as well ! And yes, “physique” is correct.

Yep, Johnny. He is a River product. He’s been under a special training program over the last 2 years in which he had to lift a lot of weights and build up his physique (spelling?). He struggled for a while because by doing that training he lost some of his explosion and quickness. But now it seems he’s got it all back!

And he’s got a hell of a long/medium-distance shot!

Vargas saw the red card???? I’m shocked! haha! Seriously…his red-card rate must be the highest in the whole first division in the last 5 or 10 years combined.

Both Boca and River will face the most important week of their seasons. They’ve got the Copa’s 8F with the Superclásico in the middle. It’ll be interesting (but not as much as Rosario Central v. Racing! Well…more than interesting…it’ll be terrifying!).

Buen-anotte indeed. An impressive kid. Where did he come from ? A River product ? He looks like he ought to be tossing newspapers for a living but he’s a big threat despite his small frame.

A ragged performance by Boca topped off by Vargas inexplicably picking up a second yellow at the end of the match. So, no Vargas against River which not only will hurt defensively in midfield, but also make it nearly impossible for Ischia to try out the Riquelme/Gracian combo that I had hoped for.

Great day for River, with Boca slipping 4 points back. I don’t have a good feeling about the Libertadores tie – it’s River after all, they always find a way to lose – but I think they are a good bet for the Clausura. Visits to Boca and Independiente are tough remaining aways, but their other fixtures should see a good points haul. Boca of course can get right back in it by winning the superclasico.
