Clausura ’08: Round 16 scores, scorers and goals

It’s been a big weekend while I’ve been away, River drawing back level with Estudiantes at the top and San Lorenzo in danger of losing their manager in spite of emerging victorious from their match against Colón. Olimpo beat Newell’s on Monday evening but with Racing and Gimnasia de Jujuy only drawing their matches, the rosarinos are unlikely to find themselves unduly worried by the Promedio. For the full details of all the matches, as well as the weekly goal video roundup, read on…

    Nice work Sam!

Does anyone know what happened with Colon’s manager in the match with San Lorenzo? It looked like he was taunting the SL fans, maybe for going out of the Libertadores? For a few moments there it threatened to get very ugly indeed.

  2. Justin, I’m not sure exactly – I’m a few days out of synch having been out of internet access all weekend, and it’s now very late at night and I feel a cold coming on, so I’m off to bed now – but Antonio Mohamed is a former player (and indeed manager) of Huracán, the club he supported as a boy, who of course count San Lorenzo as their clásico rivals. It would surprise me if that didn’t have something to do with it.

  3. Matthew Gilbert says:

Mohamed seemed to be lifting his bottle of water as if it were a cup, I think a reference to SL never having won the Copa.
Like Huracan have won loads (sarcastic roll-eyes smilie)
