Well…Falcao missed a lot of internationals for Colombia because River asked the Colombian FA to excuse him so he could stay and play for his club. There were at least 2 previous occasions in which Colombia had to make do without him. The last one was when River had to face San Lorenzo for the Copa Libertadores and Falcao was with one foot on the plane and was told to stay in Buenos Aires at the very last second.

It’s just a “diplomacy” thing. Something’s gotta give and the bottom line is that the FIFA and the AFA calendar are not the best friends.

There is never a FIFA date that clashes with an important European match (international cup or domestic league). That’s not the case in South America.

Murt-Falcao probably wants to showcase himself as much as possible internationally, so he has a better chance of getting the hell out of River !! Sorry, but if I was playing for River, with managemant being what it is, and the fans hurling corncobs at me, I might want to make an escape.

why the hell was Falcao playin for colombia in an absolutely meaningless friendly in LONDON wed night when we are 3 games away from the end of the clausura and possibly winning it for the 1st time in 4 years. Can someone please expalin?????

I don’t understand why Abreu is rated so highly? I have hardly ever seen him play a good game. When he signed for River, my main memory of him was missing easy chances for San Lorenzo when he was about 20, and the continually mocking voice of Marcelo Araujo, ‘Abreeeuuuu… Abrreeeeeuuuu…. Abbbreeuuu?’
He hasn’t got any better. He must have done something in between time while I havent been watching him, but his form this season has been terrible.

I think the winner of the league will have to take maximum points from the next three.

I expect a 0-0 in Santa Fe unless el Cholo decides to start with the creative players (like he did when we were on our winning streak. Remember that?).

He won’t. And that lanky dipstick will give the ball away with every touch before hoofing a sitter. Hope I’m wrong.

This is exactly the kind of game River had been losing under Passarella, and el Cholo’s big chance to show what a difference he has made. Only 3 points will be good enough, because the rat stabbers have a pretty easy run-in.

Montenegro and Denis (their two best players) are fit and will play.

Colombian Freddy Grisales will probably be sidelined.

Anyway…it doesn’t matter which players will show up for Independiente. The problem is Racing can’t even beat Racing! Let alone any opposing team!

Of course, Maxi Moralez is suspended for this game, but will he be fit for Huracan next weekend? I saw him stretchered off against GELP with a shoulder/arm injury, I hope it’s okay.
I didn’t see Independiente’s last game, was watching SL-Colon, so do they have any supensions or injuries?
