Argentina complete their mini-tour of the United States on Sunday evening with a match against their hosts in New York, but Alfio Basile had on Saturday night still not confirmed either the formation or indeed any of the starting lineup for the match. Basile’s expected to experiment and give a few fringe players the chance for a run-out, with the inclusion of Fernando Cavenaghi, the second-highest scorer in France’s Ligue Un in 2007-2008, the most likely of the new call-ups to get a start. Forwards are one thing Argentina aren’t short of, but a genuine target man to replace the ageing Hernán Crespo is going to be needed soon, and to that end Cavenaghi will be looking to impress on his (official) senior debut for his country. One player who won’t appear will be Fabricio Coloccini, who left the squad on Saturday with Basile’s permission to attend to his daughter, who’s fallen ill.
