But it seemed better to begin this series with a celebration, and the series as a whole will try and focus on teams, players and matches which aren’t so well known in the Anglophone world (I’m sure no-one would thank me for writing another bloody Maradona tribute).

Also, the anniversary of the Peru match was this Saturday just gone, when I was away for the day and couldn’t get online to publish anything on the site. It’ll get its own mention further down the line, don’t worry…
