From the way I understand it the Ahumada/Bravo situations are in some ways similar to the Bosman situation. Basically Argentine law states that at the end of their contracts they automatically are re-signed with a 20% salary increase unless they agree a different deal. It sounds like Ahumada is trying to challenge the ruling based on EU labor laws since FIFA is based in Switzerland.

There is an article in Clarin today saying that the leaders of 6 or 7 first division clubs are meeting with Grondona to try and change the law the way it is currently written to protect the clubs more and bring them more into line with the way things are done in Europe. I think the Nayar situation is also a contributing factor.

It's sad that things with Ahumada have broken down, as his work in midfield was critical to River's title success. But it was doomed to end in tears once he criticized the fans. I'm surprised no European club has shown an interest yet, as he's the kind of athletic ball-winner that can do a job but be had relatively cheaply since he isn't a goalscorer.

I hope Flores does well during his time at River, he's very highly rated by Pellegrini but we are overstocked in the attacking midfield department at the moment!
Hopefully he can earn a regular starting berth.
