Apertura ’08: Round 1 goals

The goals from the first round of matches in the 2008 Torneo Apertura are now online, and you can view them through the TN sportblog by clicking here, and the picture’s a lot better this season than we’ve had to put up with previously. For those who don’t know which sides wear which kits, read on for a full running order of the goals in the vid, and if you’d rather cut the crap and just watch some good ones, we’ve got the pick of the goals from the Central vs. Estudiantes thriller right here, thanks to our friends at GolesTV. Unfortunately these are the only ‘goal of the week’ contenders available in individual videos (anywhere on the net, as far as I’ve been able to find), so I can’t include other worthy contenders this week.

Running order for TN clip:
Colón (red & black halved shirts) vs. River (white, red sash)
Boca (navy & gold) vs. Gimnasia de Jujuy (white & sky blue stripes)
San Lorenzo (white, red ‘straps’) vs. Tigre (navy & red)
Central (navy & gold stripes) vs. Estudiantes (red & white stripes)
Gimnasia (white & navy) vs. Newell’s (red & black halves)
Racing (sky blue & white stripes) vs. Lanús (maroon)
Arsenal (sky blue, red sash) vs. Argentinos (red)
Banfield (white, green sash) vs. Godoy Cruz (blue with white pinstripe)
San Martín de Tucumán (red & white stripes) vs. Huracán (white)

The best match for golazos:

Danelón: Central 2 – 0 Estudiantes (9th min)

González: Central 3 – 1 Estudiantes (50th min)

Boselli: Central 3 – 2 Estudiantes (51st min)

The Sportblog doesn’t show the build-up to Gracian’s goal for Boca, which was a brilliant interchange of passes that made it, in my opinion, Goal of the Week. Boselli’s second goal is my second choice, because it was funny, and Kili’s third.

Some good goals from Lanus, I hate to admit, though Racing’s defence was not the best.

  2. Agreed, Matthew, on all counts. I wanted to get Gracián’s goal up but it’s not on GolesTV – I’m assuming some of the rights issues (some online streams were a bit dodgy and it seems that the Olympics are affecting how TyCSports broadcast their programmes at the moment, so maybe the chap who runs GTV wasn’t able to record those games) are the cause of this. As for Sand’s goals for Lanús, the second in particular was a lovely one. Sorry…

I agree about Gracian’s goal. Also, Vargas’ goal involved some niceness, but by that time Gimnasia’s defense had pretty much thrown up their hands. Has anyone ever seen the “frog jump” performed by Vargas before ?
