Boca is going great guns right now, but they have a bunch of matches coming up in a short period of time and the loss of some of their depth (Maidana, Monzon, Ledesma-not to mention El Loco) could come into play. In addition, Palacio is sort of a part time player as he recovers from “pubalgia” and Roman and Battaglia have seleccion matches. What the hell is pubalgia anyway ? I’m guessing its a groin problem ? Plus, the Boca kiddies can’t keep playing this way. Can they ?

As usual, dropping a new striker into the mix does not seem to be working, in this case Salcedo. Ojeda (the new keeper) has done fine. He has an amazingly fast first step, but of course he’s no JP Carrizo.

Keep in mind Johnny, if the last 5 years are any indication, the worse River are doing in a campaign, the more likely they are to win the Superclasico. ;)

Even if he was a pain to deal with, he was a constant threat and drew alot of attention from defenders. And despite all the flak he took Abreu drew defenders as well. I certainly don’t see as much of River’s matches as those of Boca, but the new keeper hasn’t been that bad from what I have seen.

Maybe their struggles will end once Buonanotte and the new guys up front get better acquainted. Then again, I hope not. :)
