Does anyone know the story? Roman’s play during the Copa Libertadores win in 2007 overshadowed everyone else, but Caranta has been mostly brilliant since replacing the woeful Bobadilla. Garcia does look a talent but I doubt he’s ever going to reach Caranta’s level, and he’s going to keep making mistakes as he learns on the job.

That said, I think that actually accomplishing that goal will be very difficult. San Lorenzo is playing lights out and there are other teams in the mix as well. Boca is just not that good right now. No Palermo, basically no Palacio and you know there are still some simmering personality problems regardless of the party line.

Against Inter Boca had no clue how to make the last pass and no answer for Alex. Chavez turned the ball over repeatedly. Plus Garcia is obviously a talent in goal, but real green. I guess Caranta will be packing his bags come December/January. His story should be interesting.

I suspect Ischia was giving the reserves a run-out because the Copa Sudamericana is somewhere below the English League Cup in terms of priorities for a team like Boca. Though of course if they get to the semis and have another shot at adding another international ‘star’ to their badge, they’ll probably start playing the first XI…
