Godoy are on the up

Sunday saw one match in the Torneo Clausura: the postponed game from early March in Mendoza between Godoy Cruz and San Martín de Tucumán was completed in front of empty stands. It started out 1-1, and finished 3-2 to the hosts. With this result, Godoy rise further above the relegation places, and San Martín drop below Gimnasia La Plata. If the goals are made available online, you’ll be able to watch them here tomorrow night.

I don’t know how I feel about the result.

On the bright side, San Martín de Tucumán will struggle a lot more to get out of automatic relegation and that’s a good thing for Racing.

On the other hand, it’s getting harder and harder for us to get out of promoción places. Banfield and Colón are almost impossible to reach and this 3 points to Godoy Cruz puts them in a similar position.

It’s Racing v. Central and Gimnasia now.

  2. Matthew Gilbert says:

Yeah, I listened to the commentary on a Tucumán radio, and I so wanted a draw, to keep Godoy Cruz within reach. They now have to at least eight of their twelve remaining games for Racing to catch them.

A strange thing, the players who were suspended from San Martín’s game against River all seemed to be banned from this ‘mini-game’: Noce and De Muner. Does this mean they will be back against Rosario Central? Which is strange, to get banned and only miss thirty minutes of a game which both took part in the first hour of!!!
