River Plate didn’t have an easy welcome home from their fans following the midweek elimination from the Copa Libertadores, but just about got past Gimnasia de Jujuy anyway, thanks to Marcelo Gallardo’s assist – with his first touch after being brought on at half time – for Radamel Falcao García. Elsewhere on Sunday Central saw off Boca, and in the clash of two challengers, Vélez overturned a 2-0 half time deficit to win 4-2 in El Cementerio de los Elefantes against Colón.
