Oh dear

Oh dear

Estudiantes de La Plata might be paying on Thursday night for a decision very similar to that made by River Plate shortly before Argentina’s recent match against Colombia. The city government of La Plata allowed rock band La Renga to play in the Estadio Municipal over the weekend (the reason Estudiantes’ home match with Godoy Cruz was played in Quilmes). The result isn’t pretty, as you can see. Estudiantes are looking into alternative venues for their Copa Libertadores match against Defensor Sporting on Thursday night – Vélez Sársfield’s ground is the most likely option at present.

What a shame. I am supporting Estudiantes, especially La Brujita, in this year’s Copa Libertadores.

At this stage in the tournament – quartos de finales – any participating team needs any edge they can get, and playing at home (in thier “house”) is a big advantage, to maxmize crowd support, player vision issues and simply to maintain routine/schedule.

    What a nightmare.

Also, doesn’t Estudiantes have some injuries? Marcos Angeleri?

In any case, Vamos Argentina. Vamos Estudiantes.
