Goals from two meaningless matches

One of the matches on Wednesday night featured a ‘national’ team playing Ghana in Córdoba. Martín Palermo scored both goals and, as a result, has convinced everyone in the press that he’d be ideal to play as the number 9 in the World Cup qualifiers against Peru, ahead of Diego Milito and Gonzalo Higua’in. Hmmm. In the other match, in the Copa Sudamericana, San Lorenzo, having won their first leg 3-0 last week, confirmed their passage with a 2-0 away win over Peru’s Cienciano, with goals from ‘Kily’ González and Gonzalo Rovira. You can watch all four strikes right here.

Weds, 30th September 2009:

Argentina B 2 – 0 Ghana B

Cienciano (PER) 0 – 2 San Lorenzo de Almagro (Copa Sudamericana round of 16)

San Lorenzo will play River Plate of Uruguay in the quarter-final.
