Torneo Apertura 2009: round 16 fixtures

Yes, it really is that late in the campaign already. Four matches remain (except for Estudiantes, Central and Colón) and perhaps four or five teams are still in with a realistic title shot. This weekend Independiente will be the latest team to hand Huracán a beating, Chacarita host Godoy Cruz in a relegation clash, leaders Banfield host Racing, third-placed Colón are at home to second-placed Newell’s, and there’s a ‘Big Five’ clásico in the Nuevo Gasómetro, where San Lorenzo host Boca Juniors.

All kick off times are local. Add three hours for Greenwich Mean Time.

  1. What’s happened to Huracan this season Sam? Last season they nearly won the league but now it all seems to have gone pear-shaped…

  2. Bostero Forever says:

In spite of Babington promise of not doing so, Huracan sold it’s better players at the end of last season: Defederico, Nieto, Cura…, and Cappa had been forced to rebuild the team with kids from lower divisions.
High risk for a team who, though about to win the Clausura five months ago, it’s reality has more to do with the fight for permanence in First Division than to dream about championships.
