A footnote to this week’s Mexico report: tonight Carlos Ischia (ex tecnico of Vélez Sarsfield, Gimnasia y Esgrima, Junior, Rosario Central and Boca Junior) was confirmed in a one year deal as boss at Atlas of Guadalajara. In his first job in Mexico, Ischia will replace another Argentine coach of note, Ricardo Antonio La Volpe. (And one key member of the “rojinegros” squad Ischia will probably have to get by without is the excellent Argentine midfield Dario “El Pollo” Botinelli, who is reportedly negotiating a move to Europe.)
