Friday night saw Chacarita Juniors cruise to a 3-0 win away to Arsenal de Sarandí, before a lively match in La Bombonera ended in a 1-1 draw between Boca Juniors and Estudiantes. Martín Palermo scored a penalty against his former club to take his tally in official matches for Boca to 217 goals – Roberto Cherro, the club’s all-time highest scorer, has either 218 or 221, depending which history books you read. Whether it’s with his next goal or not, Palermo’s very close to creating history. Estudiantes levelled that match in stoppage time with a wonderful finish from Leandro González, and you can watch that and the other four goals from the two games right here.

It seems like we’ve spent much of the last year watching at least some people celebrate each Martin Palermo goal as the record breaker.
