If you’ve been wondering why HEGS has been fairly quiet this week, it’s because I’ve been attempting, in the wake of Néstor Kirchner’s death on Wednesday, to write an article on the links between Peronist politics and football in Argentina, and to keep that article down to a mere 1,000 words. It’s not been easy, but today you can see the fruits of my labour over on ESPN Soccernet. Enjoy it here.

Forgive the sycophany, but your article on the Kirchners and football was fabulous. Could you ever post an unabridged version on HEGS?
The psycophancy is quite alright with me, Gallina. I’m not sure I can put an unabridged version up on HEGS, partly because I don’t keep earlier drafts of articles on my computer, and partly because I think that’d go against the agreement I have with Soccernet (who do, after all, pay me for what I write for them).
I am going to see if I can put something up here in the future on a similar topic, though.
By the way, if you’ve not got a website, no need to type N/A into the box in the comments – just leave it blank! Otherwise it comes up as a link to http://n/a, which I’ve deleted this time.
