Boca vs. Grêmio wasn’t the only two-legged final first leg to be played in Gran Buenos Aires yesterday. Earlier in the day, Platense hosted Tigre in the first leg of the B Nacional Reducido playoff final to decide who gets to play off against a Primera A side for promotion. Whilst the Libertadores match later that night saw one decent side against one very poor one, the Reducido merely saw two poor sides. Platense midfielder Mercier was man of the match, and not much else could be said as it petered out into a 0-0 draw. If the second leg – played on Saturday – is also drawn, Tigre will go to the promotion playoff by virtue of having finished higher in the final league table.
