Arsenal 0 – 0 Chivas

Arsenal played their quarter-final first leg in the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday night, looking to bounce back from their first home defeat in over a year to Lanús on Sunday. They didn return to winning ways, but they did at least not lose, and nor did they give Chivas any away goals.

They did miss some good chances of their own, though, which might cost them very dearly come the return in Guadalajara on the 25th, the same day on which River Plate have their first leg against Uruguay’s Defensor Sporting, in Montevideo.

Elsewhere in the competition, Sao Paulo, Boca’s conquerors in the last round, suffered a surprise 1-0 home defeat to Colombian side Millonarios, Luís Zapata scoring the only goal with six minutes remaining, and the Brazilian participation in the semis was put into further doubt by Mexian side America’s 2-0 home win over Vasco.
