A question of numbers

There’s really not much to say today, Sunday’s presidential elections in Argentina having put a temporary halt to the Primera A season and the next games not being until Friday. Already, however, six days in advance, one match is starting to cause some controversy, with Lanús only having given Tigre around a third of the expected visiting tickets for Sunday’s unlikely top-of-the-table clash. ‘The number of fans who travel with Tigre when they play away games is around that number [3,000],’ explained one director, getting rather more honest when going on to confess, ‘besides, the situation we find ourselves in in this championship merits it.’

Elsewhere, Daniel Passarella’s had hard words with River Plate’s centre-backs ahead of tomorrow night’s Copa Sudamericana quarter-final second leg with Defensor Sporting in the Monumental. And by the weekend, HEGS will be operating at full capacity again – I return home from Spain on Wednesday.
