Lower division roundup

Unión de Santa Fé beat Chacarita Juniors by a solitary goal on Sunday to derail the visitors’ hopes of moving into the top two of B Nacional, and instead took second place for themselves. Juan José Serrizuela’s 41st minute header separated the sides, to make up for Rubén Ferrer having two earlier goals disallowed (the first incorrectly). San Martín de Tucumán stayed top with a comfortable 3-0 win away to Platense back on Thursday evening. (Click the name of the division to see the current league table on the AFA website)

In Primera B, Sportivo Italiano’s hopes of hanging onto second place behind All Boys (who didn’t play this weekend but are eight points clear at the top) took a blow as they lost 3-0 away to Brown de Adrogué. The result means Atlanta, who played Tristán Suárez late on Monday night, and Los Andes, who host Deportivo Morón on Tuesday, can both leapfrog Sportivo into second. At the bottom, Defensores de Cambaceres are in danger of being cut off after losing at home to Acassuso, 3-0.

A shock in Primera C, as top-of-the-table Colegiales were thumped in front of their own fans by third-placed Fénix. Pablo Esquivel, Leonardo Ruíz, Sebastián Neuspiller and Wilson Paredes put the visitors 4-0 up before Alberto Meinecke got a consolation. Matías Sánchez scored twice for Dock Sud, as his side were involved in a 3-3 thriller at home to Argentino de Rosario in a clash of the bottom two.

And in Primera D, Defensores Unidos de Zárate lead after thrashing sixth-placed Deportivo Riestra 3-0. Fourth-placed Argentino de Quilmes lost at home to Ituzaingó, whilst Marcos Fernández hit a late winner for third-placed Liniers as they won 3-2 away to mid-table Atlas. And there was a thumping win on Monday evening for fifth-placed Midland, Facundo Piacenza grabbing a hat-trick as his side ran out 5-2 winners at home to Atlético Lugano.
