Clausura ’08: Round 14 scores and scorers

A dreadful week for Estudiantes and River Plate got much better on Sunday – both were knocked out of the Copa Libertadores in midweek, River after having lost last weekend’s superclásico, but this time out, Estudiantes beat Boca by a single goal and River rallied to demolish Gimnasia La Plata in the second half, running out 4-2 winners to share the leadership. Racing drew with Argentinos, gaining a little ground in the Promedio on Central, who lost to Vélez. Guillermo Rodríguez got the only goal of the San Lorenzo vs. Independiente clásico and Lanús ended their ten-match winless run, leaving it incredibly late to beat San Martín 2-1 in San Juan. After their own Copa elimination, that might be some small consolation.
