Boca Juniors take on Fluminense in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores semi-final on Wednesday night, needing to win or get an extremely high-scoring draw in the Maracanã (the first leg was 2-2). Much later – a midnight kick off Argentine time – the selección will be renewing their rivalry with Mexico in San Diego, the day after the North Americans confirmed ex-England boss Sven Göran Eriksson as their next manager (he’ll take charge after the friendly). Alfio Basile will be experimenting with a new formation putting Lionel Messi as the link between midfield and attack. Find Argentina’s lineup, as well as both Boca’s and Flu’s for the Copa, right here.

Gabriel Heinze is still recovering from a lower back complaint and, if he doesn’t recover in time for the match, will be replaced by Fabricio Collocini, thus reviving the for too long overlooked tradition of scary 1980s rock hair in the Argentine national side.
So I guess Riquelme won’t be playing against Mexico. Booo :P Take him out when Boca is winning and fly him to the other match! heh
Hahahaha!
0-0 at halftime between Boca and Fluminense. I guess now he won’t make it to San Diego if he has to wait until the end of the match to board a plane! :)
Actually, I like the fact that Argentina will play without Roman tonight as I think we should be ready in case Riquelme can’t play a match or two in the future (for different reasons: injury, suspension, etc).
Always heartbreaking when a Cup team gets knocked out of the Cup. :) Maybe Boca will play some of those players in their last two league games? Just to reintroduce them to la Primera, in case they forgot.
This is breathtaking stuff from la Seleccion so far. Absolutely devastating and beautiful football.
Agree about la selección! Too bad we are not allowed to play in the Euro!
What a lovely move for the second goal. That dummy by Kun was amazing, as well as the first touch by MESSI to send the keeper the other way!
Deary me, Pato…surely Carrizo has to be first choice arquero soon?
