Torneo Apertura 2009: Round 6 scores, scorers and goals

Five teams remain unbeaten after the sixth round of matches in the Torneo Apertura, although amazingly one of them – San Lorenzo – are down in 8th. Having drawn four, Saturday’s five-goal thriller over Tigre was only their second victory of the campaign. Chacarita finally got a win, whilst the replay of last season’s Clausura finale saw Vélez comfortably brush aside Huracán. And the clásico? Independiente beat Racing with a performance which manager Américo Gallego claimed was like watching Barcelona. He may have been exaggerating. See the scorers and the goals, right here.

These results leave Estudiantes top with sixteen points, trailed by Vélez and Banfield on fourteen each. Relegation strugglers Central are fourth, on thirteen, and Argentinos complete the top five with twelve points. Chacarita’s win means Huracán and Racing are the only teams left without a win so far. Huracán have only one point, Chacarita and Tigre both have three, whilst Lanús and Racing are on four.

Chaca are still bottom of the Promedio though, with Central second bottom and Racing and Gimnasia La Plata filling the playoff places. Things are congested above them though, with Arsenal, Atlético Tucumán and Godoy Cruz all within range.
