Estudiantes de La Plata advanced to the final of the Club World Cup on Tuesday by beating South Korea’s Pohang Steelers 2-1 in Abu Dhabi. They’ll meet either FC Barcelona of Spain, or Atlante of Mexico, in the final on Saturday. Leandro Chino Benítez got both of Estudiantes’ goals, and you can watch them here.
There was worse news back home, where Estudiantes fans heading onto the streets of La Plata to celebrate the win were met by a group of Gimnasia fans and clashes ensued. At least seven policemen were injured, two of whom had to be hospitalised, and seven civilians were detained. The fuss apparently started when a small group of Gimnasia fans tried to involve themselves in the celebrations.
