I’m giving the Torneos de Verano a fairly wide berth, as readers may have noticed, mainly because I find them mind-numbingly dull. All the same, it would be wrong to totally ignore them, and there’ve been some interesting results in the last few days. Here, then, you can watch the goals from Estudiantes’ 4-1 demolition of Boca Juniors, Racing’s 2-1 win over River Plate, and their Avellaneda rivals Independiente’s 3-2 victory over the same opposition. Next up for the two giants is a Wednesday superclásico in Mar del Plata which even Marcelo Gallardo admits he doesn’t particularly care about…
Estudiantes 4 – 1 Boca Juniors (Saturday 16th January 2010)
With this result, Estudiantes won the Triangular de Mar del Plata.
River Plate 1 – 2 Racing Club (Thursday 14th)
Independiente 3 – 2 River (Sunday 17th)
Independiente take the Triangular de Salta, on goals scored ahead of Racing (the match between those two ended 0-0).
Remaining summer fixtures involving the big clubs are Wednesday’s Copa Desafío Mar del Plata between River and Boca; Independiente take on Racing on Saturday for the Copa Ciudad de Mar del Plata, then on Sunday River and Boca face of again in the Copa Revancha (‘Revenge Cup’) in Mendoza. All matches kick off at 22:10 local time (1:10am Greenwich Mean Time).
You can now follow HEGS on Twitter (including updates during and between league matches and similar stories that might not go up on the site until later). I’ll keep mentioning this until I’m happy with the number of followers I’ve got, so save yourselves the misery and do it now.
