Torneo Clausura 2010: Round 1 fixtures

The first round of matches in the 2010 Torneo Clausura is upon us tonight, at last. A full preview of the tournament will follow over or shortly after the weekend – I’ve been tied up during the week writing about Salvador Cabañas’s shooting in Mexico (HEGS naturally wishes him well). The closest thing to a clásico this weekend is Chacarita Juniors’ visit to Tigre, whilst Banfield begin the defence of their title away to what could be a genuinely hungry River Plate side. Abel Alves takes his (latest) bow as Boca’s new manager – he’ll be in charge for the duration of the Clausura – away to Argentinos in the weekend’s last match.

All kick off times are local. Add three hours for Greenwich Mean Time.

Primera División Torneo Clausura 2010, first round:
Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba vs Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata (Fri, 19:00)
Estudiantes de La Plata vs Arsenal Fútbol Club (Fri, 21:10)
Tigre vs Chacarita Juniors (Sat, 17:00)
Vélez Sársfield vs Colón (Sat, 17:00)
Racing Club vs Rosario Central (Sat, 19:10)
Atlético Tucumán vs San Lorenzo de Almagro (Sat, 21:15)

River Plate vs Banfield (Sun, 17:00)
Newell’s Old Boys vs Independiente (Sun, 19:10)
Lanús vs Huracán (Sun, 19:10)
Argentinos Juniors vs Boca Juniors (Sun, 21:15)

A new campaign begins, and as ever Hasta El Gol Siempre will be following it every step of the way.

You can follow the Clausura and the Argentine sides in the 2010 Copa Libertadores via HEGS on Twitter (including updates during and between matches and similar stories that might not go up on the site until later). I’m slowly gaining followers, but if you’ve not signed up yet you can do so here.
