Wednesday night was a football-packed one, but I spent a fair bit of it finishing off a Copa Libertadores preview piece for Soccernet so didn’t have time to get the goal videos up right after the games. Argentina’s home-based squad played Jamaica in a friendly in Mar del Plata, and after falling a goal behind rallied late on to win 2-1 with Martín Palermo and Ignacio Canuto scoring the goals. In less important games (that’s a joke), it was also a good night for Argentine clubs in the Copa. Banfield beat Monarcas Morelia of Mexico 2-1, and Vélez Sársfield brushed aside a nine man Cruzeiro outfit 2-0. The only disappointment was Newell’s Old Boys, who lost the second leg of their qualifying round tie 2-1 away to Emelec of Ecuador, to go out 2-1 on aggregate. You can watch all the goals right here.

You can follow the Clausura and the Argentine sides in the 2010 Copa Libertadores via HEGS on Twitter (including updates during and between matches and similar stories that might not go up on the site until later). I’m slowly gaining followers, but if you’ve not signed up yet you can do so here.
