Independiente won a thriller in the Doble Visera on Sunday, after thinking they’d screwed it up. They threw away a 2-0 lead to allow Estudiantes a glimpse of a share of the points, but towards the end it was El Rojo who got the win. Ignacio Piatti – formerly of Estudiantes’ cross-city rivals Gimnasia – got an incredibly smartly-taken winner to make it 3-2 with about ten minutes left. Elsewhere, Vélez drew 0-0 away to San Lorenzo, and Boca drew 0-0 in La Bombonera with Atlético Tucumán. In Sunday’s final match, Colón beat River Plate by an Esteban Fuertes penalty to nil in a dull match. You can watch highlights from three of the four matches right here.
Independiente 3 – 2 Estudiantes de La Plata
San Lorenzo de Almagro 0 – 0 Vélez Sársfield
Colón 1 – 0 River Plate

Vivas fired. You think now would be a bad time to mention “you could of had Bauza” ? Maybe if you wait a year you can plan for someone like Jorge Fossati.
Garcia had absolutely nothing to do against Tucuman, and I am sure Pato was thinking what bad timing to be benched ! As for Ibarra, he complained of an injury so he wouldn’t have to do pine time. For me, Ibarra has worn out his welcome. Boca icon, or no.
