Banfield and Argentinos Juniors met on Wednesday night to play the remaining 82 minutes of the match that, during the second round of the Torneo Clausura, was called off due to ridiculously heavy rain in El Sur. The champions won easily, 3-0, with Argentinos offering very little in the way of a challenge. Sebastián Fernández got things going in the 16th minute for El Taladro, and Marcelo Quinteros ensured it was 2-0 before the 41 minute mark heralded half time. In the second half Banfield spent most of the time merely keeping their opponents at arm’s length, but Rubén Ramírez had time to add a third. As I type no goals are yet available to embed here. They will be by Thursday evening, but if you can’t wait that long you can click here to view them on the Olé website (in the drop down menus under the heading ‘Buscador de Goles’, select ‘Torneo’ Clausura 2010, ‘Fecha’ 2, and ‘Equipo’ Banfield).
You can follow the Clausura and the Argentine sides in the 2010 Copa Libertadores via HEGS on Twitter (including updates during and between matches and similar stories that might not go up on the site until later). I’m slowly gaining followers, but if you’ve not signed up yet you can do so here.
