The first competitive superclásico of 2010 is only five hours away, and even with both Boca Juniors and River Plate enduring turgid campaigns after years of underachievement, it’s still the most talked-about fixture in Argentine football. Martín Palermo could become Boca’s all-time highest goalscorer outright today, although whilst the Argentine press have now all decided he needs one goal to do so, four would be required to make it indisputable (several sources claim Roberto Cherro got 221, not the 218 that have been cited since Palermo got within spitting distance). River go with a mix of old hands and young pups for their visit to La Bombonera, whilst Boca go with a tried and tested lineup. You can see both starting XIs right here.

If you’re unable to watch – or if you don’t understand Spanish and you’d like some insight you can follow with your internet stream (not that I could possibly approve of watching via an internet stream of course) – HEGS will be right here with sort-of live updates throughout the match on the site, and if I can work out a way of doing it without getting too busy with open windows and tabs, you can join us on Twitter for the occasion as well.
