Superclásico 2010: the lineups (take 2)

Thursday afternoon will see the remaining 81 minutes of Sunday’s superclásico played out between Boca Juniors and River Plate in La Bombonera. Although the match is already underway, the sides’ starting XIs don’t have to be identical to those fielded on Sunday, but as it happens they almost are. A short but sweet note then, this one: River Plate’s lineup will be unchanged. Boca Juniors make only one change from Sunday’s farce: Ezequiel Munoz moves across to right back in place of Hugo Ibarra. Filling in at centre back will be 23-year-old Colombian Breyner Bonilla. Clicking the link above to Sunday’s lineups, and making this single substitution in your head, will therefore give you the full starting XIs.

I won’t be able to run updates of the super, because kick off has been moved to 15:45, and at that time I’ll still be at work. Highlights will be right here on HEGS as soon as they go up online, though.

You can follow the Clausura and the Argentine sides in the 2010 Copa Libertadores via HEGS on Twitter (including updates during and between matches and similar stories that might not go up on the site until later). I’m slowly gaining followers, but if you’ve not signed up yet you can do so here.

  1. absolutely well worth the wait (4 days) and what a difference 4 days makes ah the beautiful sunshine of BA .. vamos boca!!! las gallinas suk!!!!!

  2. Probably the best effort by Boca so far this tournament. They played well offensively against Velez, but the defense was tighter against River. More importantly, they played with some spirit and pride which has been sorely missing of late.

The pitbull had a great game. Too bad he let Gallardo get under his skin, but other than free kicks, that is what Gallardo does best.:)
